Retired (slightly early due to a voluntary redundancy offer) engineer.

Fortunately in good health (despite the occasional bit of gout etc., slightly dodgy back and a past suspected mild heart attack).  Enjoying retirement and living modestly from savings in that period between early retirement and 'official pensions starting' ages.

Filled my 'cabinet of curiosities' with 'interesting and unusual' shotguns over a 43 year working life, and enjoying using (small game shoot, and 'fun' level clays) the contents now.

Assistant gallops manager, looking after 2500ac of racehorse training grounds, forestry manager currently overseeing two woodland thinning projects to provide 800t of timber a year to power three chip fuelled heating systems. Heath medic providing basic trauma care to sometimes seriously injured work riders. Estate tree work, welding and equipment servicing....oh and part time keeper. Sounds quite a lot written down like that!

11 years as a contract overhead linesman then another 12 years working for a regional electricity company as a linesman before finally hanging up my climbers and becoming a technician. Working on all voltages either in the air or underground. I have always loved my job which is a good thing as I spend a lot of time doing it.

** scroll to bottom for quick answer

Grew up on a council estate , Hated school, left with mediocre exam results, have done many things, bar/ hotel work, cctv, data and summary of departure screens on train network, digital advertising screens in Euston station/stortinget station in Oslo/ gatwick airport/ westfields shopping centres/  and Belfast shopping mall, Data/telecoms engineer for eight years, and then moved to a totally different sector doing hvac (air conditioning and ventilation and extract) mainly in restaurants but can include any commercial or residential  properties. Work silly hours to pay for the mortgage ,shooting and fishing and hopefully have something of value to leave my kids

** jack of all, master of none, trying to enjoy life and time with my family in amongst working way to many hours

I'm a laminator, mostly carbon fibre, mostly F1, some LMP cars, some Mod work. I work for the highest bidder for my skills, a mercenary if you will but that is the nature of my sector. Still I've been in the same place for 8 years now so Ive nearly put down roots. I've always worked with my hands, always will whilst the body is willing.

Like my father I preferred physical/outdoor work (he was a gamekeeper and farmer now retired) while the rest of my family are well schooled (accountant, pharmacist, actuary and research biologist). I never liked school but my parents insisted I went to university so I have a totally useless degree. I guess I'm better off than average but I work hard for my money, I'm certainly not privileged though.

Had a variety of jobs, some paid well some didn’t but none made me as happy as a little electronics firm I’d worked for back in the 80’s, so in 2010 I decided to go back. It won’t make me rich but I’d rather be happy.

I’ve said it to a few on here before, don’t assume you’ll ever get to hand it over.

The council / government have their eyes on taking it off you to pay your care home fees.

Your will doesn’t take effect until your dead. And it could be ok gone long before then.

Enjoy the retirement, sounds like you've earned it 👍
