Good reply.

Ah yes - a full list of the promises of all the political parties of the left at the last general election.

That's actually not a very accurate statement though, is it, not that I'm defending the left mind you.

it was obvious to him that the EU were never going to cede us a good deal.

Finally something we agree on. Many on this very thread have also said that we never expected the EU to give us a good deal.

But would you believe it. According to Steve Baker we was indeed offered a FTA, which the remainer May turned down.

Or maybe they were socialists?

Pre ww2 the left and right wing used to be a clock face. You didn't want to be between 630 and 635 as your were extreme left or right. They are minutes apart and most can't tell the difference in their effect but there is little between them.

Churchill wanted to form a government that included the left, the problem was they were socialists and we were at war with the national socialists. The solution was to call one labour and the other Nazi and all was well. Over time the clock face went and became wings.

Whether it's the extreme right or the extreme  left, we don't want them in power. Bad things will happen and that's a fact.

The left can also be fascist, this is not revered just for the right although the left wont like that.

The problem I feel, in this country at this time,  is that the view from overtons window is so far left that anything centre or heaven forbid centre right is viewed as extreme. This needs adjustment.

I've only scanned this thread over time, and it's obvious people's feelings and opinions run high. My 2p's worth is that all along those that voted remain kept telling us we didn't know what we were voting for.

So now, three years down the line, we have been well and truly told that we got it wrong and we need another people's vote.

So now we know what we are voting for, I still think the only two choices on the paper should be Leave or remain. I don't think that they should try and water down the leave vote with leave with a deal or leave on WTO.

Mind you, we have already voted and I don't think there should be another.

There is absolutely no point having s rerun of the same vote as 2016, the point of a further vote is to provide clarity and a path to resolution of this whole mess, one way or the other. In the end we’ll get by with or without Brexit but we can’t go on like this for much longer.

In other news it’s reported that Trump backs BoJo, remains to be seen if that aids or hinders his cause. For some people that’s akin to Katie Hopkins getting behind Brexit...

This morning the Bracknell Conservative Association voted overwhelmingly to de-select their MP, Dr Phillip Lee! That,s 3 down, and loads more to go! Democracy in action, something that has been in very short supply in Westminster! So that,s Lee, Grieve, Wollaston and Soubry gone at next Election. Focus is now on Greening, Rudd, Morgan and Soames! As the dominoes fall, it will focus the minds of those MPs,....allegiance to the Brussels mafia, with subsequent unemployment, or a sudden and dramatic change of heart to LEAVE! Over to Guido Fawkes

"The second referendum backing Tory MP has so alienated members of his constituency association that he didn’t even turn up at the Bracknell Conservative Association’s Special General Meeting. Unsurprisingly they voted that they had no confidence in Philip Lee. Contemptible cowardice or arrogance from the man who had “Philip Lee, Great British Hero” posters printed. Perhaps both."

Whether you happen to like Donald Trump's personal style and character or not, we are welcoming (and I mean welcoming) the President of the United States, elected leader of our long term friend and ally.  I welcome the President.

Labour (Corbyn, Nugee/Thornberry etc.) and the other oppositions members invited but declined have shown themselves up for what they are - a party of bias, anti our allies, full of negativity and prejudice.  If they ever come to power we will have their type of 'friends' - Venezeula, Democratic Peoples Republic of (i.e. North) Korea, Hamas, Democratic Peoples Republic of Congo and the other useless lefty isolationists and failed states that their brand of Marxist based 'socialism' causes.

Bercow is a pompous little man with a hugely over inflated ego.  You only have to watch his grossy overacted theatrics in the commons to see how he operates.

Cable is simply a sour and senile old fool.  Made a complete mess of what he did when in office as business secretary (like the Post Office privatisation) and only joined Liberals as he stood no chance as a Labour prospective MP (which he was originally) as - in those days anyway - labour had better candidates.

Frankly - President Trump has not missed anyone worth seeing in that lot anyway.

That's the thing, surely they are cutting their noses off to spite their faces?

Our closest allie, coming here then going to a memorial for D-day, lots of business talk going on.

They can't expect to be taken seriously if there not willing to meet and deal with the President of the United States of America.

I think you will find that outside the UK they are a laughing stock.

^ this very muchly. Salute the rank (or office) not the man.

That said, I often wonder whether the White House staff are sometimes desperate to wrestle the phone from the president’s hand when he starts up Twitter.

Love or loathe Trump, Corbyn has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he is not fit to take office. Not that many of us didn’t already know that.

Sadly, that does not seem to exclude them but is an essential qualification?

I seriously cannot get my head around it and it's not just Corbyn by the sound of things, very very short sighted in my opinion, particularly when you consider Corbyns history of meeting with conventional enemies of ours. Similarly with Khan, he could have embraced the visit and shown himself and London (the UK) in a much better light.

I have empathy with a lot of the objections people have on Trump and IMHO it's fair cop for the public to go out and show their disdain at his presence but people in public office / positions of authority have certain protocols and standards to uphold.

Dereliction of duty, it is the post you are meeting not the person. By not turning up you effectively show what a muppet you are!
