Bullfinch nest

I have been following the progress of a Bullfinch nest in thick bramble on the shoot estate grounds, the clutch steadily built on a daily egg laying basis, and the last time I checked there were 4 eggs.

As the hen was not sitting, it was apparent the clutch was incomplete,

From a reasonable distance a few days later, it could be seen that the incubation had started.................but unfortunately on a mooch yesterday, it was obvious that the nest had been ragged by something, on checking, the nest had been tipped to an angle, 2 eggs were on the ground with 2 others stone cold in the nest..................hopefully they will have another attempt.
