team tractor Posted June 27, 2019 Report Share Posted June 27, 2019 I’m getting a few farmers asking me to dispatch a few sheep . I have a .410 and 22lr . Main reason for 22lr is the noise but I haven’t dispatch on my Fac . Is it worth applying or using .410 ? I have both guns so it really makes no difference but is the lr practical ? London Best Posted June 27, 2019 Report Share Posted June 27, 2019 Shot quite a few sheep for local farmers. Have always used .22lr subsonic. Well up to the job, BUT, always shoot from behind between the ears to the nose. The animal will go down like a train hit it. Send this into firearms department asking for humane dispatch adding to license. Saying that , I hit a Jacobs tup in the back of the heed with a .222 from 30 yrds and the **** walked of shaking it's head. It never walked from the second shot mind lol. Having said that, I know a very experience farmer who cuts the the throat with a sharp knife and then pushes the knife up in to the brainstem. Death is virtually instantaneous. I was asked to dispatch a bull that was causing problems with my rifle. I spoke to the firearms department and although it was a grey are they said send a letter in to cover all bases for future incidents.
