JDog
We went to Theddlethorpe beach this morning and at first thought that we were in the wrong place. The sea was actually out of sight, at least 1 km from where we normally find it. All very strange.

cuffy
The tide does go out a long way sometimes , because the beaches are quite flat . often tourists/incomers and Muppets get themselves stranded when the incoming tide cuts them off . manthing
Various generations of family have had static caravans at Saltfleet (just up the road) as a kid I remember splashing in the sea just over the sea bank. Its now a long walk out to paddle. I always said that the land disappearing from the coast the top side of the Humber was merely relocating south a bit.
