old'un
Last night I watched BBC2 Horizon about cancer treatment and the installation of two proton beam therapy machines, it was like something out of a science fiction movie, would have like to have seen more on the treatment given to a young lad with a brain tumour, I guess they may show another program later in the year with more results of treatments. Well worth a watch. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00072kd
Nuke
I think I remember a documentary show called something like "The science of Star Trek" where the inventor of the first beam treatment machine confessed that he was Trekkie and got his inspiration from the science fiction show. /M
old'un
Funny you should mention Star Trek, loved the first series and all the gadgets they used, its surprising how many have become reality from the 1960s show.
Jega
Ironically enough a work mate is travelling to Essen tomorrow morning for pre-treatment assessment tests on his 16 month old son, prior to 5-6 weeks of proton therapy later in the year. https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/grimsby-news/brave-toddler-rare-cancer-cheek-3118120
