DEL123
Iv got an old browning gold hunter 3 1/2 inch. The gun ejects 3 in and 23/4 in no worries but 3 1/2in it jams up. It tries to eject the fired shell but the one in the magazine comes out and jams it. The gun has a new action spring and has had a good clean but still jams, any advice would be great
billytheghillie
sounds like your using light loads.
DEL123
Fires light loads fine only jams when you fire 3 1/2 inch loads
MARSH GUN
Is the spring the right one? . Your gun is showing all the symptoms of a dirty bolt spring tube, but as its a new spring is it the wrong spring. Make sure the tube is free of rust or burrs, and is the follower sliding freely in the tube.? If its tight it can dampen the action movement on longer cases. DEL123
The spring was ordered from browning but still could be the wrong one. I'll check everything again tomorrow. Cheers

WD40 is a good rust preventer but when it dries its a brilliant brake when there is a tight clearance. use power steering fluid but not too much. holloway
Are the 3 1/2 inch shells reloads ?

If I fire a 31/2 inch and have a 3 inch in the magazine it doesn't jam, only if there's a 31/2 in the magazine
holloway
just that i had the same problem with rolled turnover home loads i had to trim the cases by a few millimetres then no problem.I expect its a different problem as i am no expert. Scully
My Winchester 1500 XTR does this if I use 'mixed' loads. The length of the case isn't an issue, only the different weights of loads, if that makes sense. Edited July 29, 2019 by Scully
