Iv got an old browning gold hunter 3 1/2 inch. The gun ejects 3 in and 23/4 in no worries but 3 1/2in it jams up. It tries to eject the fired shell but the one in the magazine comes out and jams it. The gun has a  new action spring and has had a good clean but still jams, any advice would be great

Is the spring the right one? .  Your gun is showing all the symptoms of a dirty bolt spring tube, but as its a new spring is it the wrong spring. Make sure the tube is free of rust or burrs, and is the follower sliding freely in the tube.? If its tight it can dampen the action movement on longer cases.

The spring was ordered from browning but still could be the wrong one. I'll check everything again tomorrow. Cheers

It is showing the symptoms you get with fouled up tube, if its not dirt or the spring, look for anything else that could be dampening movement. WD40 is a good rust preventer but when it dries its a brilliant brake when there is a tight clearance. use power steering fluid but not too much.

had a couple of these they have a 3 1/2" chamber however they were fitted to a 3" action they will if memory serves 3 1/4" shell will eject ok , get an empty 31/2" case and trim it down until it ejects through eject port  ,  with a 3 1/2" when the bolt is fully open the crimp is still in the chamber and you have to take the barrel off to get rid of the empty  anything bigger than 3" you will have to load your own
