Hogden powder

Hi lads running out of powder psb2 my local shop has some hogden in where can I get recipe for 20 bore 28 gram using fibre wads.

Been looking on hogdens site but I can only find plastic wads .

I tend to like when powders are running at there max payload. Usually 1200fps is doable. You wont see diddley difference betwix you normal loads.

Research. Read the data. Dont just see it.

It might be a "longshot" but the data is there.

Will check Tuesday when local shop opens exactly what powder he as in and that they can get all the time.

Currently working up recipe for fibre 28g, 20 bore with longshot, results looking promising so far :-). Trying felt filler instead of cork to see if that tightens pattern up a bit.

How hard is your shot as pressure guide says need at least 3% antimony shot if you are reaching 10,000psi with 20 to 21+gr Longshot?

Scavenging a few high performance 28g clay shells (5% antimony) for a few cartridges worth of shot may be worth effort to see if it is shot or wad which is reason for spread.

Hi

Using 20.5gr and nickel plated shot, so should be hard enough. Longshot data on their website is for plas wads. Expect pressure to be lower in fibre load with same powder load. My chrono stating circa 1180 fps.

It's not a bad pattern at 45 yards, but always looking to improve.

if you get 800X it makes a mean shell with 27.5 grams

i use it in winter for all my shooting in #5 (hare, pheasants, ducks and the odd goose)

Loongshot will be similar but i use it for ITX and steel instead

 you take the same load as with a skirt wrap and you put a plastic plug and then a greasy wrap and that's it!
