The US is still by far the largest world economy, and after we leave the EU China will be the second largest, the EU will drop to third. What's more important to remember is that the EU figure is skewed by its top five countries economies. Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain contribute £10.78tn to the EU's figures leaving the other 23 states contributing £4.57tn to the total EU figure of £15.35tn, so an average of just £198bn per state... that's just a fraction below the economy of Greece! It's clear that as an economic model the EU is doomed to failure due to the massive economic disparity between states.

As the worlds 5th largest economy, the 2nd highest contributor to NATO, the head of the Commonwealth and a permanent member of the UN security council I wouldn't refer to the UK as a 'bit player'.

But then again, Poontang, you are not a Remoaner......they have all been to Specsavers, and bought their  sponsored rose coloured glasses!

Also worth mentioning is the EU is the world's slowest growing economy for a major trading block and it is being out done by all the others, probably due to its protectionist trading policy's.

It,s worth mentioning.............but not by Remoaners!  They are the blind leading the blind!

Econimic disparity. 🤣

Take a look at the States and China for disparity.

Either way the future is big pacts and co-operation its not about tiny islands. The Uk will never be able to use trade weight to force global change alone. It is too small and lacks the political structure for decisive decision making. It can only be effective in a block.

We never said that we would "force global change"............instead, we will take advantage of it!  Since the day that a Referendum was first announced, Remoaners have been Doom and Gloom merchants! Project Fear was their weapon....it failed miserably! Now it,s Project Fear 2....and that too will fail ! It must really pee off Remoaners that we have not slid into the abyss economically!

Ye haven’t slid into an economic abyss yet because ye haven’t left Europe yet.... it’s coming down the road like a steam train.

I am already counting the cost. ☹ look at value of UK assets 😞

Not sure its going to be an abys (apart from initial problems) more a huge loss to where we might have been. Sure this will be dismissed as project fear but its a real loss all the same.

So you don't see a difference between the economies of Germany and Greece, or France and Portugal, or the UK and Romania? Really?

This tiny island as you put it is the 5th largest economy in the world. It's economy is bigger than that of India, the 2nd largest nation in the world by population, and is almost double the size of the largest nation in the world by land mass, Russia. We're not doing too bad for a 'tiny island'. The EU can never 'force global change' either, it can barely keep its own house in order!! As I stated earlier any global change would come from the UN and we have seen just how fractious that can be recently in Katowice where the US, Russia, Saudi and others including Australia and Brazil frustrated attempts to implement fully the Paris climate change agreement. These countries, massive coal and oil producers, are clearly protecting their own interests which is of course perfectly understandable, but my point is that the UN being the single largest pact for change still couldn't get to the conclusion they wanted so your idea that countries can only be effective in a block seems a little optimistic.

There is a huge difference in economies but either the Uk or German economies are tiny on a global scale.

The EU economy 2017 and US were the second and third largest by a bit to China. Difference is US an EU are consumer economies in an advanced stage of consumption. Uk or Germany are tiny bit players on there own but as part of a trade block they are world leaders.

You say they cant get act together but thats just wrong, on a trade basis. They have set out clear trade agreements that countries have to, will and want to fall in line with. Hence the efforts to sort out the shambles now.

In Cork alone there has been over a billion euro invested in biopharma in the last couple of years, I’m not worried.

Thinking about it there'll be no hard border anyway so I guess things will pretty much carry on as normal. I know we won't put one up and you won't and the EU won't. Just a shame this red herring has wasted so much time and energy.

All the remainers seem to be obsessed about finances and about how leaving is going to impact on their wallets personally; none of them seem to realise there are much more important issues at stake here.

Exactly, they seem to care not for us as a country taking back our sovereignty and putting our destiny in our own hands.

But even on the financial side they seem deaf to the noises from the EU about levying taxes on member states' citizens and companies directly. Plus the inevitability of the UK being forced to join the Euro if we stay in. Rich countries will  pay more to support poorer countries, that's how the EU socialist model works. What gravy the Remoaners enjoy now will inevitably become less over time. Only those at the Top Table will be immune, the likes of May and Blair. The ordinary Remoaners will be shafted like everyone else when their usefulness subsides.

Happy Christmas...its nice to see our poor impoverished public sector workers (or retired on good pensions) lot are enjoying the holidaying in the sun...… Is that the sort of reply you were after? or would you like me to try and ramp up some jealousy, bitterness and spite? 🤣🤣

Just like the catastrophe that you Remoaners said would happen within DAYS of a Leave vote back in 2016 ? I don,t think so.....................question is, would you be the first on here to apologise publicly if wrong?

But when we do, the amount of funding (bribes to stay in) that Eire gets, will dry up to a drizzle!

Like I've said earlier, if the conservatives fail to deliver brexit it could be the end for them as we know it.

17.4 million people suddenly looking for a party that will actually represent their wishes.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1063646/Brexit-news-Nigel-Farage-latest-no-deal-vote-Theresa-May-UK-EU-political-party

that will be 9 in my cul-de-sac, and there are only 13 voting age adults here!

That crazy guy who said "stupid woman" in the commons, has demanded mps cut short there break to brexit vote.

Who is this guy?

The more I see, the more I think he is a puppet and mouthpiece for others; Len Mcclusky?, Jon Lansman?, John McDonnell?, A.N Other?, - all of these?

Everything he does/says is that bit 'delayed', as though he has to await instructions on the correct line to take.
