What has he been drinking/smoking ?

He would probably like you to believe he has been enjoying a 'working man's pint' down the Working Man's Club, and these days probably not smoking at all.

In reality he has probably been enjoying a fine vintage claret (as apparently much enjoyed by no less a person than Len McLusky), or a fine old malt whisky (as enjoyed by one of socialism's 'saints', Manny Shinwell).  Whatever it was, it was almost certainly paid for out of our taxes.

Labour as a party have been remain from the outset

All main parties 'pre referendum were officially remain.

Post referendum - both Labour and Tory committed to leaving in order to 'honour the referendum result'.  Labour have quietly forgotten that now.

labour really are a hypocritical shower of ****.

They always were; a large number of their MPs and 'senior members' (including Corbyn and many of his front bench/back office team) have always been wealthy privately educated - even titled people who believe in keeping their own privilege and wealth whilst stripping it from others.  Virtually ALL retired labour politicians have retired as wealthy individuals and done their best to avoid taxes in passing their amassed wealth on to their offspring - and many have been handing out free Parliamentary salaries as 'advisors/researchers' to their close family members.

I see Comrade Corbyn has said he will support the recall of Parliament to get Brexit sorted out!

As said above, they've had 3 years, now, leave it to Boris and his Team to work on, come back from your extended holidays, vote it through and let's get the hell out of the crumbling house of cards!

Remainers pointing to soft economic numbers in the UK should note that trade between euro-zone member states fell by 6.6% in June compared to the same period last year. That was the fastest such contraction since 2013. Exports from the eurozone to the rest of the world also dropped by 4.7%, the fastest rate since 2016. The EU can’t blame the fall in intra-bloc trade on China…

This is massively under-performing compared to exports of goods and services from the UK which grew 4.5% in June, the most since October 2016. Shipments of goods in particular surged 7.6%, driven by machinery & transport equipment. The euro looks over-valued…

Carry on with your snide, sniffy, ignorant, intolerant, head in the sand, high and mighty, laughable, la la land, bubble-wrapped ********.

Meanwhile, away from the 'ignorant, intolerant, etc, etc, bull****' (written by someone whose grasp of the economic implications of a hard Brexit is probably on a par with my understanding of nuclear physics), here's a sobering report from 5 days ago on financial services passporting rights.

Forget about  queues at Dover or shortages of grapes. This is where the real and permanent damage from a disorderly Brexit is going to come from. Just the loss in tax revenues alone.....

But never mind. In la la land the sun will always shine forevermore. :)

For the past couple of months we have been hiding some posts on here, and warning members when things get personal or abusive. It is just not necessary for those comments to be made. I am posting this here, along with a temporary lock on the topic. It will be reopened in a couple of days, and when it is please keep it non-personal, and without the unpleasant comments on it. People are allowed to have different views.

This is the single Brexit topic on PW, so please do not open a new topic. This one will be reopened, but we just wanted to put (another) post on here stating about this. Often when we have previously posted a heads on here, it has been quickly been pushed back onto a previous page due to the volume of posts on this topic. We understand it's a big issue, and emotions on both sides, but no need for any insults.

Now where we're we 😁

All going well, Boris is sticking it to them, and even the staunchest remainders are beginning to realise we are actually going to leave now, and likely on WTO terms.

Much talk of 'side deals' smoothing the way, and saving face between us and the member states, whilst scaremongering seems to be falling on deaf ears now.

The whole issue of Brexit should focus on the rapidly failing structure of the  EU. Its going down the pan and nobody, not even the most fanatical remainer should be able to deny that. It has nothing at all to do with the UK or Brexit.

Fatal flaws in the structure of the EU were introduced in 2004 when ten totally inappropriate countries were allowed to join. Much of the banking structure has failed and is trading illegally . The German economy is in recession and its big money generator, the car industry is in deep **** .

The political structure of the EU as a round table at which every member has to agree is at the heart of the problem. Its incapable of reform. It cannot influence its own destiny. Its a fatal flaw and that is exactly why we must run, not walk away from the whole fiasco

ONS.png?resize=540%2C308&ssl=1

The record-breaking migration numbers seen by the UK before the Brexit vote has often been cited as a leading factor in the public’s decision to leave the EU, however the ONS have now realised they have been hugely underestimating migration numbers incorrectly for years. If the public had known in 2016, the Leave vote may have been even higher…

ECfPJZAXkAINP3T.jpg?resize=540%2C380&ssl

The ONS have recalculated net EU migration from 2015-16 to be 16% higher than previously thought (a 29,000 difference), with the incorrect methodology having been used by the statistics authority for over a decade. The ONS have further added to the embarrassment by saying there’s “significant uncertainty” about their estimations since the EU referendum too. Further lays waste

healthy-healthy.jpg?resize=540%2C308&ssl=1

A new study by researchers at Oxford University has found that the UK and the US are the countries with the healthiest packaged foods. The study notes that “The UK, USA, Australia and Canada ranked highest for overall nutrient profile” in that order, whereas the study found that Slovenia, an EU country with unfettered access to the UK market, ranked far lower.

The lead author of the report, Dr Elizabeth Dunford, said that “Our results show that some countries are doing a much better job than others.” Remainers would do well to see how well eastern European countries rank compared to the American food they love to scaremonger about…

So much for the scare over chlorine washed chicken!

I thought they also admitted that they (the ONS) only counted the figures from certain venues, ie, NOT all of the possible figures.

Ironic that they (the ONS) now state their results may not be reliable.

Many of us worked that out years ago!

I do look forward to Jeremy Paxmans new programme about politicians.

Boris Johnson seeks legal advice on five-week parliament closure ahead of Brexit

Quote

On Saturday Labour and pro-remain Tory MPs reacted furiously, saying that the closure of parliament, as a method for stopping MPs preventing a potentially disastrous no-deal Brexit, would be an affront to democracy and deeply irresponsible

Seems democracy does exist when it will benefit remoaners....

As somebody who has both lived and worked in the US and is now a regular visitor. US food standards are clearly much higher than you see in Europe
