I think the escort is going to be my favoured option for a number of reasons.

Has anyone bought one recently as I believe the NEW ones have a special adjustable butt pad with extra panels you can put in.

I've seen some like this locally but many examples advertised as new on t'internet are the old normal stock.

It actually draws the eye to it in my opinion and makes them look even more robust!

Guys / Girls

In peoples experiance do you think i am likly to find a deal at one of the shows. Havent been to one since i was 14 you see.

cheers

anybody got a view

they are basically both the same gun. both ****. made in turkey.

better with an old a5 browning or a 300/301/302/303 series beretta, or remmie 1100.

you can pick em all up at around the same £ and will outlast your escorts or webleys.

you have to remember the webley and escort are under £500, you get a huge amount of gun for your money and they are still available so spare parts are easy to get hold of. i recently spoke to one of the developers of webley shot guns at a trade show and from what he was saying the wildfowler version can cycle a huge range of cartridge just as much as a browning costing almost double the price.

I tried a Webley synthetic semi at Dovey Valley and immediatly fell in love with it.

I will say however, I'd rather go for the walnut. As a left hander that can be costly so a second hand semi might be better for me.

However I will say many people think the Webley quality is a little better than the Escorts: Plus you get the servicing, gun slip and 3-5 chokes dependant on the model bought.

I have never personally tried a Escort so I can't comment on them; the Webley's are reliable semis that with proper care will last for years. You can expect them to do whatever they should be capable of doing.

:good::oops::yes: B) :lol:

I have the Webley l/h in walnut and have found it 100% reliable, yes its cheap, but it hasn't broken and it hits what I point it at.

I have a fabarm lion368 in black synthetic & it's great & my brother has webley l/h in realtree & a mate has the black sy r/h & both seem to be very good for the money paid & my brother's stuck once with 65mm cart but normally good. It's not quite the gun as my fabarm as i can do more stuff round the action of it but they get my :good: up.

I saw an Escort 'working hard' on Sunday; I was quite impressed, apart from its user insisting on holding the gun barrel down and shaking the gun until the shell disappeared into the chamber. Only then would he release the bolt. Fed up of waiting and seeing the ever increasing queue, I joined him in the cage and showed him how the carrier worked; he was amazed - only to return to his usual way of loading on the next shot. He held up the shooting for ages! Some folk never learn!

I ended up buying an Escort, black synthetic, 26 inch barrel. £280 brand new with 5 chokes and warranty.

I bought it solely for Wildfowling as I can shoot heavy loads of steel or bismuth etc. through it. Also, when it inevitably gets mudded up and rained on heavily (which it has), I can strip it down in no time and clean the stock and forend with a green sponge scourer!

So far it's been faultless and I've had geese and duck with it.

A few weeks ago whilst out fowling in the worst rain I've ever been outdoors in, a lad I know who shoots the same marsh was coming round to my way of thinking after getting about three inches of rain all over his Benelli super black eagle 2 valued at about £1000!!!!

Didn't bother me in the slightest with my £280 quid "cheap **** gun"!

For the poeple on here singing the praises of old berettas etc. go ahead and whack some super fast steel through them. After you've finished admiring the bulge in your barrel and have spat your fillings out, we'll still be shooting. I agree that old berettas can't be bettered for general shooting with lead and that they cycle faultlessley. They have a great and well deserved reputation, but with modern non toxic ammunition they are not safe to use.

Was going to say when you shut the carrier it pushes the cartridge into the barrel, what a wally :stupid:

Another vote for the escort from me 3 1/2" magnum steel proofed, and all for £250, can't complain about that.
