They appeared in a fairly remote feild, the only entrance to which, that isn't a significant distance away is a very small wooden bridge, with a bar / poke to stop livestock crossing it. The area is on the edge of a small / medium sized rural(ish) town in south Cheshire. They are pretty close (about 50 yrds)away from a snall brook and valley that are the only overgrown fringes of otherwise fairly uniform arable feilds, bar obligatory hedgerows. So, it turns out that a chap who owned a smallholding a number of (fairly large) feilds away, owned a handful of sheep, which following his death about a week ago, broke free.
