What type of feeder?

Recommended Posts

I have made some pan feeders and they seem to be working well.  Those destined for outside pen areas are stronger steel... flattend 45 barrel metal .... and the inside pen areas I use the thinner galvansied warning sheets from the sides of IBC containers and they along with lamb feeder buckets work great.  I cut 45s down and crimp the edge so the lid slides over and is waterproof.  As said springs get stretched these days with wall to wall badgers.   Weld some concrete reinforcing mesh around 45s to stop badgers and munties getting at them.

We have mostly springs on the bottom of our feeders but we are making another 20 feeders up and would not mind moving away from springs. Was looking at pan feeders or maybe wright feeders.

What do you recommend?

I have moved onto the smaller diameter wright feeders, over the last 2 years. So far so good, no deer or badger damage and I also started screwing them to the outside or the barrel. It stops them getting pushed back into the barrel and stops squirrels chewing the edge of the hole.
