Not got a problem with the rspb buying or using trap as we all know wildlife management is a balancing act if you're trying to avoid boom and bust.

What I do have a problem with is them and packham telling the rest of use what we can and can't do and lying to get the public on their side

That is the issue, the RSPB, Packham, Avery et al, are trying to wrest control from real conservationists (shooters, keepers, landowners etc) so they can dictate what, how, when and why their idealistic/protectionist view of conservation can be achieved.........they will not admit (or they don't or won't understand?) that real conservation is not about protectionism, its about, amongst other things, controlling and balancing, by sometimes using lethal means, populations of some species for the benefit of others (including ours!)

They are preying on the ignorance and gullibility of the public to garner support in order advance their aims!...it not about killing things it's about power and control and who holds it!
