Glut of fruit this year

We have a glut of pears in particular and my wife asked for suggestions on using them.  I suggested she make a pastry case in a 1 inch deep oven proof dish we had, peel and halve the pears and remove the centres with a melon baller. Lay them in the pastry case and then as I had just made some bulace jam, pour a whole jar over the top and put in the oven and cook.

It turned out awesome.  Might try it again this next weekend:yes:

I would say that any plum jam would work but the bullace has a sharpish taste and worked well.

Some thick cream added .......mmmmmmmmmmmm!!

Now you drag me on to another subject.....  We had some pearseco made for us last year...12 1/2 % and delicious.  All our excess apples and pears have normally gone into making cider but the young man who makes it has a serious medical problem this year so i don't think any will be made.   Pear vodka is a very nice drink and I have a bottle left over from last year but will be making another couple of litres this year.
