Haix boots

Was in K. Lonsdale yesterday and had a browse through Taylor’s ( army surplus etc ) on the advice of a mate who bought a pair of Altbergs there recently.

It’s been years since I’d been, and there was indeed a good selection of used Altbergs ( but I’m not keen on that almost Caramac brown colour ) and brand new Haix boots. Owner says he’s struggling to keep up with demand as the local keepers are buying them two pairs at a time, so they have one pair to wear while others are drying.

The desert Haix are not waterproof.

I found a pair of splendid condition ex army Matterhorn boots. Had a pair of these when daughter was a babe in arms and wore them on an almost daily basis. One of the best boots I’ve ever owned and they lasted me well over ten years with almost daily wear. Had them resoled twice as their only flaw was a soft Pirelli rubber sole, but glad to see these have a very good Vibram sole nowadays. A bargain at 60 quid. 🙂

I have altberg as work boots and they are exceptional. Had them resoled once by them, not cheap but they're that good.

Also have haix high liability which at the time I bought them were issued military boots.

I use these for hill walking, they look a bit naff like clown boots but £40 i paid for a lightweight gortex boot is a no brainer. They're also very good.
