So that’s where they all are !

I now know where all the pigeons are. Travelling to visit friends at Ludlum via Potter Heigham, we passed between Rollesby and Repps with Bastwick where a large stubble field was attracting more pigeons than I’ve seen in weeks. This field was also hosting in excess of 100 greylags with more wiffling down to join their friends. This may be a common sight to Norfolkians, but to us Men of Kent it was a sight to gladden the heart.

Someone could be in for some good shooting.

Doesn't surprise me, I saw hundreds commuting from Essex, across the estuary towards Kent the other morning. Looking like a slim time ahead for my perms.

I must admit to having seen a good flightline crossing the Swale from the Isle of Sheppey towards Faversham creek which may well have come from Essex. This was whilst having a pint in the Shipwright's Arms at Hollow Shore.

On this basis, Wooder on here could be in for some good shooting in his area.

Chris nothing  much doing out my way, went for a walk round Saturday plenty on beech nuts and acorns in the woods, plenty of pigeons eating the crushed chestnuts on the lane that goes past the house. It’s really quiet at the moment and no rape out my way either which is unusual. All the fields have been left in stubble .

No pigeons on those stubbles then ?

They've not started on the rape around here which is now 6 to 9 inches tall.

The last few I had were on well disced maize where they were still finding the odd cob on the surface.

I mentioned in another thread about the amount of untouched stubble fields about and the lack of rape being sown this year, with the weather forecast for this winter being a long hard and cold one its possible those who do have rape to shoot over could see some big numbers hitting the fields.
