Hope they give the person who killed him a medal .

Few will shed any tears. But murder is murder we can not pick and choose, whoever did it should be charged with murder not given a medal. PS How do you know the killer was not in for similar offences. :hmm:

The only merit to keeping them locked up is to study them or see if they give up details of others.

That being said, by all accounts Brady (for example) spent his entire time inside saying as little as possible and being as unhelpful as possible - he’s someone who shouldn’t have burdened the tax payer for all those years.

The killer will have been someone who is a lifer and wasn’t going to ever get out anyway ...

They must have forgotten to lock the killers cell door ... and also the victims ...

Guard probably just popped to the loo at the time it happened... camera wasn’t working on the block ...

Just one of those thing!

Wont lose any sleep over it.

What do you want to study?

GCHQ have plenty of stats ... like 1 in 1,000 people in the U.K. view indecent images of children ... have those kind of attractions etc.

Whats the U.K. population?

Its much bigger / more wide spread than anyone imagines.

The wonderful world of crime and punishment that exists in some people's heads. How awful.

Which bit is awful ?

A rapist kills another rapist, in prison , where they were both living in some comfort, likely getting aroused comparing notes about their crimes, whilst their victims can likely never feel safe EVER again.

The strange world of 'justice' that exists in some peoples heads.

Pathways into contact offending, transnational sexual exploitation, cyber sexual offending and the role of the deepweb, use of encryption, how hurtcore sites operate and self police.  There's a lot that can be gleaned from individuals like Huckle, a lot more than intercept stats can provide.  He also wrote a "how to" guide for transnational and online child sex offenders, so in terms of being someone who can inform law enforcement on what to look out for and prevent future victims people like him can be incredibly useful once caught.

This problem is, as you say, massive, and it's growing and changing all the time.

Look at how long it took to catch Matthew Falder, or the lengths international policing had to go to to break into the deepweb forum that led to the arrest of Huckle, Peter Scully and Shannon  McCoole among many others.

A decent part of my job relates to exactly this stuff.  As repellent as individuals like this are they are sometimes the best chance law enforcement has of catching others once they themselves are apprehended.
