First Red Stag

Managed to take my first Devon stag a few days ago, 8 pointer, watched him for a couple of hours then about a hour of crawling around we managed to get a shot..used my tikka 6.5x55, with Norma ammo..next on the list is a sika stag..

He had 4 hinds around him, and another stag hanging around about 100 meters away.. but he wasn’t ideal for a shot.

Nice one Rich,

 

ive yet to get a Sika stag( the last one To complete the 6 uk species that I've grassed)

 

did you see any muntjac down there,  I was falling over them in the south hams earlier this year ( I got permission to shoot them next year when I'm down there :yahoo:)

 

i beleive that them devon reds can get very big

 

nice beast mate

yea it was a fair lump, used a quad to get it up the hill..fair Head on him..

Take advice from a man with a hernia from the very same cause and NEVER shoot a big ‘un when you are alone!
