Not funny let me tell you.

I live in Carlisle and all the streets around are closed causing traffic chaos.

Don't think its a prank, well not when your that high up upside down🙁

I don't think we're going to find that this was routine maintenance. As said earlier, hope it ends well. I picked up on it before the story developed and a man upside down in the chimney with his legs in the air in the small hours smacked of a mannequin and students at that time to me. As it obviously isn't, I'll go Fathers 4 Justice.

I'm a bit puzzled as to how anyone got access to Dixons chimney; as far as I know it's a listed building? I've driven past it who knows how many times, but wasn't even aware there was a ladder affixed, never mind it actually being accessible to the general public. No doubt all will become clear in time.

I too have driven past that chimney many times and marvelled at its construction and sheer size. I seem to remember that the ladders started a great many feet from the ground.

The ladders to scale the chiney do indeed start well above ground level so somehow he's managed to get high enough up to use them.

Whatever his reasons its a sad end.
