Strangely TC didn`t mention that she was talking about investment in people in the UK by giving people access to 6 years of free education rather than the short term outlook of the cons of allowing those with the skills into the UK, which blocks people from the UK achieving their potential.

Jesus H......does anyone really still believe what a politician says?

I must admit to being completely befuddled now, not that I wasn't before.

I used to vote UKIP but they've turned to dust.

I was going to vote Brexit Party because I want a clean break brexit and believe in Nigel.

I'd never vote Tory because they lied to get us in the EU in the first place and, I believe, the deal so far is brexit in name only. They pay billions of taxpayers money to private companies in PFI deals just to keep debt 'off-books' and pretend debt is falling and never invest in anything until it is too little too late just to save their skins.

Labour, Greens, Libdems, well nuff said.

My constituency is a tory safe seat so, if Brexit don't stand, then it will be the Monster Raving Loony Party for me simply to excercise my voting right but this may be the first of many times when I simply don't vote because I've got nothing to vote for.

PS. I don't believe in tactical voting because I don't understand the idea of voting for something I don't want in order to get something I don't want just to prevent something I don't want😕

So I was right then, people just believe their empty promises!

No, you have nothing but assumption that the promise is empty and you originally said that people who voted for her would be either brain dead or gullible. I suppose you are 50% correct as those who are brain dead cannot vote.

It may be an assumption , but it is an assumption based on previous track record. We both know what I mean by brain dead, I'll spell it out just in case you didn't, "thick" just like the majority of Labour's front bench.

By your (frankly wierd) logic then, there is just as much of an assumption that the promise is sincere?

Given labour's track record of promising things that never actually come to pass, my money is on the fact that she is talking standard labour BS, to gain votes, in an election where they are going to get panned, with no expectations of actually delivering them.

So they can promise what they want, it matters not

And what?

Do you think he's actually bothered about a peerage?

If you do, then you have zero understanding of the man or his motives.

Go back to the safe space, where you actually think he's some kind of nazi.

You are right; Labour must be well aware they have a near zero chance of a majority and a very small chance of being the largest party.  It is not realistic that they will form the next government; this much is pretty obvious from their consistent lag in the opinion polls as well as various traditional Labour supporters (Lord Sugar etc.) having nothing to do with Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott and Co.

Therefore they will almost certainly never have to deliver on any promises made.

Thefefore thay can promise whatever they think will make the biggest impact on reducing Boris's possible majority to make things as difficult for him as they can.

It is the politics of negativity - something Corbyn has specialised in all of his political life.

Fraid so! It will be for a party that will potentially do the least damage to the country, and who wish to deliver the democratic will of the people to leave the EU, not because of the empty electioneering promises they are currently making!

I guess you will be voting for the polar opposite?

I suppose you will have to actually vote for a person though?

Nope, I usually vote for people who I know will do good things for the community first, last time it was conservative.

Good grief man.

You still have not apologized for twisting words, and she ain't my leader.

Gordon Brooooon to thank for that.

You are correct, though it was initially a John Major initiative ......... but didn't really happen to any extent under Major - possibly because the terms offered by the PFI people to the government were unattractive.  Majors government was much attacked by the Labour party who claimed PFI was backdoor 'privatisation'.

Brown (as Chancellor initially) seized the idea of PFI with great enthusiasm (suddenly it was no longer 'back door privatisation') because it enabled him to do things like build new hospitals in Labour marginals without actually spending any 'government money' as such.  PFI is a bit like contract lease in that you don't have to find the whole sum initially - but pay on the 'never never' (often 20 or 25 years).

Brown in fact increased debt markedly (albeit in part due to international financial crises) but also HUGELY increased future government 'liabilities' to make the ongoing payments on the PFI deals he struck.  It is much the same thing as government debt, but not strictly 'owned' by the government.  They still have to make the repayments.

And that's part of the trouble, those thick people will happily swallow what labour tells them, the last GE was also going to be a walk in the park and look how that turned out.

Like you assume the labour front bench are thick, a quick check and it shows a doctorate as the highest and an HNC as the lowest awarded to them, and you have attained what? There are miners all the way up to directors, and are all MPs now and you are what? Genuinely I know nothing about you, I presume you are a high achiever and have degree(s), post grads, masters, or doctorates of some sort and are a captain of industry or similar as you have made a judgement call on these people based on where you are in life and what you have achieved compared to them? Or are you just like a monkey in a cage throwing faeces and hoping it sticks?

Keir Starmer is a barrister, but I am of the opinion he is "thick". He appears to have no memory of what he said the day before. I don't care what qualifications the Labour front bench has, they have little commonsense. As they are so bright, perhaps you could explain their treatment of the Jewish people.

PS - henry d - your attack on Newbie is beneath you.
