bobthenailer22
hello mate. to use the dots for range finding you have to do some experements thru your scope at various magnifacations and known ranges also you must be looking at a target or object that you know the height of example follows. the wooden post that most farmers use around fields for wire etc are approx 1.5 metres high and at 3x mag at 30 metres the post needs 3 dots to cover the post. at 40 metres at 3 x mag takes 4 dots to cover the post at 50 metres at 3 x mag the post needs five dots to cover the post. so in the field you can say that looking at a post that is half way between 3 and 4 dots to cover it you could say that it is 35 metres away. the distances and meserments that i have given are just made up so you will have to work out your own for your scope at what magnifacation. no dout somone will post all about minuates of angle between the dots etc but remember that mil dot scopes were made for longer ranges looking at soldier size targets which are on average 5 foot ten inches so range can be estemated over a wide number of ranges. ps with your scope you should have got a paper explaining the distances or minuates of angle between dots etc. any more questions pm me for a greater explaination. regards bob
