Ninja ferret he did state going stalking. I think plinking us allowed. Target shooting is plinking.

Any reason for .308 Lloyd? Not many I know are buying them, most are changing to other calibers.

6.5 creedmore, 28 Nosler, 7mm for flatter shooting rifles.

I would say the last thing you want to be doing with a 308 or indeed any rifle is plinking, I'm not sure your firearms officer would allow one been held just for that !

He means load development ;) .

I’ll be shot down now but I’d buy another howa in the blink of an eye. I’ve used it out to 500 yards with great results and it’s never let me down. Maybe if I tried a Mauser i might feel differently :/ . Used some lovely guns like sako , tikka , Remington etc but I still love my howa

Nothing shoots flat...Isaak Newton sorted that one, there again fashion doesn't just mean a new dress.

I have helped a couple of friends set up new Howa rifles and have been impressed with the shooting ability of the barrels.

Plinking is just informal target practice, zeroing etc etc, how else do you zero your rifles or ensure they are on the point of aim?

How else do you practice for shooting situations? Field practice is needed :)

I was going to get a .270 but many on here said the difference between the two is negligible and 308 was easier to get cheap ammo for informal target shooting.

Depends what you like, I’ve semi custom remis full custom Mauser actions Sako semi customs.  CZs tweaked.

All did the job. If I was looking for an off the shelf general rifle I’d be looking at Begarra

What can you pick up for around a grand mate?

That bergara HMR looks nice... £935 new.
