Island Gun that is unbelievable I see a cod end and fathoms and fathoms of what looks like lobster creel back rope how on earth did the poor beast manage to swallow that lot.

Just seen this on another site even more graphic than IG pics, poor animal!

I can only imagine it was hungry and picked up the rope in the mistaken belief that it was food ! I agree it looked like creel rope, about 2 sq m of netting and a small amount of mono gill net, I would hope the scientists will be able to determine how long the rope was in the stomach by the length of time it would take the animal to die, Sperm whales range would be from the Azores to N Norway, so it could have picked it up anywhere, in fact the rope could have come from any boat/ship, or even from a pier after a storm and big tide.. It may even have washed off the deck of the rainbow warrior.  A sad day.  and a reminder that we are all responsible in some way................. preferred diet is Squid by the way
