Going rate for high seat day

Recommended Posts

I've a question about an offer I've had for high seat shooting on fallow lately.

Its for an accompanied day in managed forest.  The outing fee is £100 with an additional surcharge of £25 If you shoot anything and no additional charge for beasts on top of that (within reason). Venison can be bought back at dealer rates.

This to my mind sounds like a good deal but I've no point of reference.  I've had a .243 for years for foxes and the odd muntjac but I've never shot a fallow, nor paid for a day on deer.

I'm thinking of starting to do a bit more on deer and this feels like a good place to start, so I'd be grateful for informed views.

I generally pay £70-90 for the stalk or session, no shot fee on does or pickets, agreed price on bucks, and then carcass at dealer rate, eg roe £40, fallow doe £70 etc.

Whichever way you look at it, it's between £150-200 to go out and come back with venison.

I am a few years out of date but I would say that offer is about mid stream of what is available out there.... not counting the venison of course which is usually at game dealer prices.

A case of suck and see I think, because it isn't a bad deal.

Only just seen this, did you end up going Zapp?

It's only when I see paid per stalk prices I realise I should shut up about 'paying too much' for our syndicate
