Royboy
I’m thinking of getting rid of my 2003 l200 as I will not be needing it, I start a new job next week so it’s too heavy on fuel for me to commute 50 miles a day. ive got a another car for this but I’m thinking of getting something smaller like a Jimny for feeding my pond and shooting at weekend if anyone knows of anything around Lancashire. A Jimny is half the price of my l200 to insure so it’s going to have to go 😓
Dave at kelton
We have a jimmy auto and it is heavier on fuel then my l200, beware!
B&W FOX
The best MPG I could get from my Jimney auto was 28 for commuting
Royboy
Mpg isn’t really a issue, I’ll only be using it on weekends local, I’ve got a corsa for me new job
B&W FOX
You may want to remove the rear seats as well on the Jimney if you wish to get anything bigger than a sandwich tin and flask in the back. I had my seats stored in the garage so I could get my decoying kit in it. Edited December 8, 2019 by B&W FOX

Davyo
If you go Vitara, give the cills a good poke and the inner chill.Jimny or Vitara seats lifted and carpet pulled back look for rust in rear foot wells. Also check for rust (again a poke not just a look) around seatbelt anchor points. Rear car floor and Jack well again rust.Best thing with a Jimny is to remove rear seats and carpet.Put in either a 3mm steel floor or MDF (paint with yacht varnish)right up to the rear of the front seats. You will have loads of room.Dont buy the 1st one you see, especially if seller gets twitchy when you start looking & prodding. Jimny are great, I've had 2 and also a 02 Vitara.I really miss my Jimny, mpg shouldn't even come into your mind if your after a 4x4.The two I had I wouldn't know how much mpg I was getting as i didn't care. I’m still umming and arring about getting one. Not sure if I would sell the car and buy a newer one or an older model and keep the car for everyday use. Which model / spec Jimny do your find best for a shooting vehicle?
Davyo
I've had a 02 plate with the gear stick HR/LR.Also had a 58 plate JLX plus with the push button HR/LR. Both where great, but with Jimnys it's the corrosion that's the main thing to look out for.My 02 needed quite a bit of welding. When I went for my 2nd Jimny I knew what to look for and where to look. The 58 plate was spotless as it was owned by an old lady.I took it straight to a underseal specialist to get it dinitoled.I stopped shooting so sold it and regret that day, miss it like crazy. I'm currently on the waiting list for the new Jimny.Currenty running a 2019 Swift and a 2019 Ignis so when I get the call one of these will go (Swift).
