I have an Icotec GC101XL sitting here gathering dust - happy to loan it you if you want to see if they work.

Great offer. I personally have used a foxpro for many years. But I can't see there being much difference in either of them. The callers really come in play this time of year

Hi

I have both the foxpro is ok and the down side is that near any kind of electricity pilon they don’t work very well they are limited to line of sight to about 100yrds.

the icotec 500 has a updated handset which is easier to read it will work out to 300 yards and doesn’t need to be in line of sight and for me is so more responsive to the handset the back light on the handset is better

I like my foxpro but I am not keen on the handset. The display is too small for me to see in the dark so I have to remember the settings. I rarely put it out 50 yds let alone 300.

The best thing about it is its a tough unit, the sound is good given it's size and I can put it in a coat pocket. That's a big plus when out with the thermal, rifle, and sticks and walking the ground.

I have a Foxpro Spitfire, bought new many moons ago. I don't think this particular model is made now, although there are a few refurbished ones out there for sale. It's served me well for many years, and if it's anything to go by, then newer models should be good.

Same here Steve. So used to using it I keep remote in my pocket and dont look at screen. It has been dropped I dont know how many times and still works. Only thing I had t0 change was battery holder where it had corroded round terminals

I had a mate of mine in the USA send me a spare battery holder, which worked out cheaper than buying it over here. The remote is on a lanyard and around my neck, as I lost it in field once, but luckily, despite getting soaked through, still worked once dried out.
