TIGHTCHOKE
What a sad state of affairs; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-50851379
DoolinDalton
Obviously the Councillors who made the decision are just a nasty, unfeeling bunch of jobsworths! I seriously hope that the people turn against them and they get voted out next time around!
sam triple
Usual jobs worth’s , they forget as councillors they can get voted out
Walker570
I've dealt with councils and sat on councils....please do not get me onto that subject.
Ultrastu
Some one on that council is showing a total lack of humanity .and as such has demonstrated that lack of suitability to be on the council. That person should loose their job
ditchman
we have benches in cantley with dead folk names on...........how bloody petty..........mind you ..it is the council
manthing
Roll it back to them and apply retrospectively for the dedication. Bit late now though.
mel b3
Whilst I can understand why the council have so many seemingly petty rules , sometimes petty rules just have to be put to one side , and a little bit of humanity shown . That poor fella must be devastated.
vmaxphil
That's petty beyond petty and does it really matter
Gordon R
Commonsense gone out of the window.
loriusgarrulus
Miserable lot. The whole sign was nicely done. Some councillors live to be awkward jobsworths and forget they are supposed to represent their constituents.
guzzicat
A Tyneside council voted a few years ago to fell aline of Horse Chestnut trees IN CASE a child fell & was injured, gathering conkers, & down they came. also took a market trader to court as he was still selling tatties to pensioners by the pound (at the same time Chinese markets on Stowell Street in Newcastle had all of their goods priced in YEN.The old saying "give a man a fish & he will feed his family " Call some people a councillor & power goes to their head. hodge911
Red tape gone crazy ... Its probably 1 person on council with a gripe stirring the poop and the rest of the sheep following ..... If I was that guy I'd have taken the whole thing down not just removed his wife's name

Longstrider
This sort of carp happens everyday somewhere or other in this fine country of ours. If not always, very nearly so, caused by someone of sub-standard intellect being given an iota of 'power' by similarly feeble minded zealots. I'd love to see the guys dedication inscription replaced, by 'persons unknown' in a decent font and done neatly with a permanent marker. That way when the petty minded moron from the local council starts to whinge about it he can honestly state that it is graffiti
old man
Perfectly normal IMO, here they persecute business for advertising on vehicle sides etc then put up roadside signs advertising their own venues? Maybe best not to forget local ones only in training mostly for the big one, expenses claimed from the off. One near here managed 12 months expense claim for no appearances, go figure that out? figgy
Rules are rules, if they enforce this one they better enforce all the rules. They should be scrutinized on all infringements to make sure they're whiter than white
mel b3
I've just had another quick read of the story , it looks like someone might have complained , and that's why it had to be removed . Whatever the reason, it's still a very sad story .
