arjimlad
Visited the farm yesterday to drop off a card and a bottle. I was surprised to count six buzzards sitting on the ploughed field within a 50 yard radius of each other. As I left, I watched four more fly in and join the party. It was starting to rain. I've never seen ten buzzards just standing around together on the deck - anyone else shed any light ?
CharlieT
Not uncommon to see large numbers feeding on the ground. Often when I'm working the soil or cutting silage, there are always large numbers picking up anything edible. I would think that the wet ground has brought big numbers of various creatures to the surface for them to feast on. I counted 43 in the air above the farm the other day. Dave at kelton
Seen this with both buzzards and kites. They will eat worms slugs etc if they need to
Dougy
We had 7 over our house last month, great to watch as the crows try mobbing them. The Buzzards just seem to laugh them off, turning on them occasionally.
Walker570
Not super common but occasionally you can see hordes. Counted 32 buzzards over Aberedwe Hill near Builth Wells one time and then a mixed bunch of Kites and buzzards following the plough near Credenhill, Herefordshire, must have been 20 -30 obviously enjoying the lob worms being turned up. mel b3
I've watched buzzards walking across fresh plough and scratching away at the ground like chickens , it was a quite unusual thing to see a few years ago ,but pretty common these days. Up at our woodland in Wales, we regularly see 20 0r 30 buzzards ,red kites , and ravens , on the thermals , and having a very good look at the release pens.
