Buzzards flocking..

Visited the farm yesterday to drop off a card and a bottle. I was surprised to count six buzzards sitting on the ploughed field within a 50 yard radius of each other.

As I left, I watched four more fly in and join the party.  It was starting to rain.

I've never seen ten buzzards just standing around together on the deck - anyone else shed any light ?

Not uncommon to see large numbers feeding on the ground.

Often when I'm working the soil or cutting silage, there are always large numbers picking up anything edible. I would think that the wet ground has brought big numbers of various creatures to the surface for them to feast on.

I counted 43 in the air above the farm the other day.

I've watched buzzards walking across fresh plough and scratching away at the ground like chickens , it was a quite unusual thing to see a few years ago ,but pretty common these days. Up at our woodland in Wales,  we regularly see 20 0r 30 buzzards ,red kites , and ravens , on the thermals , and having a very good look at the release pens.
