Iranian general who has directly threatened Trump and the US before, up to no good in IRAQ, possibly involved in missile strikes against US targets there, gets a hellfire up his jacksie.

Iran publicly threatens heavy retribution against US and Israel.

The dance goes on.

Apparently (according to J Vine) he had been going on Trump's Twitter and calling him names, a bit extreme if you ask me!

Aye, someone didn't want him around much longer! It fascinates me how long this guy would have been getting tailed by drones not knowing he was just like schrodinger's cat.

But now he's ended up 'like a cat on a hot tin roof'!

Does anyone really think that Iran would launch an atomic/nuclear attack. It would see them wiped off the face of the planet.

Now they may re-double their supporting of terrorism and help terrorists attack Americans, but that is nothing new.

Trump warned them, repeatedly and was told "you can't do a damned thing ". 2 days later he takes out not only their top general but also the leader of an Iraqi milita they sponsor.

I bet he chuckled all night long.

I'm pretty sure they don't have nukes at the moment, and even if they did manage to build a bomb it would have to undergo extensive testing before being used in anger. Any nuclear test would be picked up immediately by US intelligence, and the manufacturing facilities would be obliterated.

There'll be no WW3. A bit of flag burning and wailing in the streets of Tehran and a few extra attacks by proxy organisations should just about cover it. I'm not so sure the people of Iran are as keen on the dead general, or indeed the leadership as a whole, as Tehran would have the world believe.

Well Iran couldn’t defeat Iraq in the Iran Iraq war.  American just kinda rolled Iraq during desert storm.

The problem is under Obama we would fly vast quantities of cash and supplies every time they pitched a fit.  It is  like when a small child is giving candy to be good for years and then another parent says your not getting the candy anymore but you still have to be good.  They pitch their fit for a few minutes and get the belt.  After which they cry in their bedroom for a while.  When they do come out they will still be tearing up and not want to apologize but they will listen and behave.

IS changed all that. Iranian-backed Shia militia groups have been fighting the predominantly Sunni IS ever since they popped up. With US support being erratic, it suits both countries to cooperate. Also, Iran might not be an economic powerhouse, but it's in a better position that Iraq and with trade sanctions beginning to bite, Iran started opening up more trade links with Iraq. It's no longer a case of Shiʽite Iran and Sunni Iraq. Long term they both have shared goals: America out of the Middle East and stable economies that aren't suffocated by Western sanctions.

Trump's hokey-cokey with troop deployment is only going to strengthen Iran-Iraq ties. I doubt there was much consultation between Iraq and the US before this strike was made.

Honestly this is going to sound bad but.......... Americans under the last administration has been humiliated.  We have seen our president bow to foreign powers,  we have seen our military forces into situations where they were not allowed to fire there weapons,  these years of patrolling the Middle East while not being able to use crushing force has many in the Middle East forgetting that the US is actually a pretty military capable nation.   Trump supporters mostly believe we should not be in the Middle East but we are chomping at the bit to roll out a real war again. A modern day desert storm.  We have spent billions on the F22 and F35s and they need to be bled to put the saber rattling to bed.   I think I speak for Trumps base when I say we are ready for war if it’s a real war.

To many American were exposed to Weapons of Mass destruction in Iraq for that to be funny. Despite the jokes that the liberal left like to make  gas stock piles were found all over Iraq.  So much so that Congress had to recognize it and pay damages to soldiers exposed to it.   Bush didn’t publicize it as we were there to topple a dictator not just to get the weapons and get out.

The sooner there is a alternative to oil, the better, they can then be left alone and go back to living in tents ️ in the desert with their favourite goat.

A few stockpiles of old, degraded gas canisters is a bit different to the claim justifying the invasion that Saddam could unleash chemical weapons in 45 minutes.

Americans under the last administration has been humiliated.

Please give examples, and explain why sovereign nation states should roll over to American demands just to avoid America being 'humiliated'

we are chomping at the bit to roll out a real war again

Why?

No you're not. You're chomping at the bit to kill a lot of ordinary people who never did, and never could, do you any harm. Your last gung-ho adventure, which  everyone now acknowledges was undertaken on the back of a series of systematic lies,  set in motion a chain of events that was catastrophic for millions of people.

And now you want to do it again to get your money's worth on your new shiny armaments? Well, you might want to consider the cost of these pointless wars to the US taxpayer. So far,  the adventures in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost you nearly $6 trillion dollars and counting. - $5,900,000,000,000 https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/14/us-has-spent-5point9-trillion-on-middle-east-asia-wars-since-2001-study.html That's a lot of money. And what have you achieved for it, other than spreading death, destruction and misery?  Nothing.

But instead of ruining countless people's lives, for the same expenditure you could have:-

1. Put 59,000,000 American students through university completely free of charge. That not only would be of huge benefit to American citizens and the American economy, it would massively reduce the need for foreign  immigration.

OR

2. Built 600,000 miles of brand new interstate highway.

OR

3. Built  and equipped 22,000 brand new  high schools.

Or

4. Reduced every single US tax payment to zero for two years.

And so it goes. These wars that are fought to (supposedly) solve problems that could, with a bit of will and imagination, be solved far more quickly around a negotiating table are like urinating money down your own leg. But you want to get your money's worth on the pork barrel disaster that is the F35? Will you not listen to yourself?

You mean the gas that Saddam used against Iran? At a time when it was OK to use gas if you were on the 'right' side?
