Airgun target

So my buddy and i decided to make a airgun target each .

After a lot of thinking and and a few elaborate designs we came up with the following .

Its a simple version but fulfills our needs pretty well i hope .Its specifically for long range , high power shooting to gauge windage over open fields .

It does away with the need for paper targets or want of a perfect zero or shot placement  .it works on just needing a hit in the appropriate sized  kill zone .

Need to paint it next and trial it long distance .

Cheers

Its made out of 3 mm steel and the holes are 20 ,35,50 mm

The paddles flip up wards ,when hit ,above the front plate and then fall back down again .they dont stay upside down .

So far ive  just shot it a few times at 4 yds will a 10.5 fpe .22 .

It flips the 20 -35 mm paddles up to the top but the 50 mm is very heavy (lots of steel there ). And doesnt flip it all the way up .

Which I like as this is the one thats gonna take the most punishment from the .25 cal  .

Think i will spray it all white with red kills

Tbf that's a pretty nice target and something I'll probably nick when I've blown mine to pieces again. My only luck is that my boss hates clutter and will throw half sheets away which now gives me plenty to board. Even with my sub 12's I like dicking about to see what kind of consistency I can get, and a metal plate with a visual sign of a accurate impact will be much more fun

Thanks i bodged this one together last week just to get a feel of the concept .

I made it out of scrap and an old skill saw blade

It works well enough and because the paddle is very light it flips up very easily even from a 6 fpe rifle at 25 yds  .

Which is fine for the garden plinkers  .

Not sure it would hold up to fac tho  .

Well my bought knock down animal targets use 2.5 mm steel and ive hit them at 20 yds with a  45 fpe .25 cal and they are fine .

They have also been hit by .22lr and .17 hmr .

At 90 yds .they did need a bit of hammering back into shape after tho .

Pretty sure the 3mm will hold up .its the rear axel that may bend , im most worried about .tbh.

Cheers nev  .

the plate cost about £8   300x300 mm

And the m6 rod and nuts etc about £5 Bought bags of  100 .

The most expensive element was the hole cutters at about £15  with arbors

But they will be reused for my mates target and more in the future .

Took me about 1/2 a day to cut , bend and  assemble .
