Hi all,

I'm picking to my Cocker on the 23rd I intend to keep him outside in due course.

I'm after some ideas for a outdoor kennel and or run.

If anyone has any pictures or plans I would greatly appreciate it.

How much is involved in making your own or can you recommend any companies who build in northeast.

Many thanks

M1

Edit to add:  if anyone wants to give me a hand I'm sure I can repay them with a few sessions out shooting or lamping etc..foxing, pigeons??

How much do you want to spend? How much space do you have? How many dogs do you have? Do you intend to get more? Do you want to stick to just dogs / bitches or have mixed sex pack?

Do you have drains on site? Are you going to pipe the kennels into the drains? Do you want just a sleeping box and open run or a building?

I have seen many many kennels since getting my dog and meeting lots of top trainers, in future I dream of having enough space to have a few bays, drains and would probably want a building inside with kennel runs in.

I have a wooden kennel with run all wood except the metal bars had a springer in it for 6 years not one chew mark on it.

doesn't get used now a days as the cocker is kept in the house he whinges on all the time if he is put in it, then neighbours complain to council that he's causing a noise..

they don't have the balls to tell me to my face..so its going up for sale when i get round to it, mine was made by a company in the midlands cannot remember who but i did pay £500 for it delivered then neil P of this site helped me build it after i had laid a concrete base.

So for keeping clean just blasted it out the the pressure spray, then every couple of years it was treated with preservative..

The only problem I can see with Mitten Hall type kennels is that they don’t appear to hold the heat as much as apparently in the morning condensation can drip on the dog.

I have heard lads say though that after 10 years they just give them a quick spray wash and they look brand new.
