Personally , I’d go for a new hatsan escort , early ones were knocked by a lot of people but for a good few years now they have been reliable ,synthetic or wood , choice of calibre , comes with full set of chokes and I think it’s a three year warranty

I’ve had one for years , love it  great pigeon gun can go out in all weathers and not have to worry about it

fit is the most important thing and to help these come with shims to alter both cast and length

you could have a hunt round the dealers for s/h it really is a personal choice whatever you like the look of and fits you

I've owned most autos, but Remington 1100s were the best handling. Duncan Lawton won two World FITASC Championships with one - no other auto has equalled that.

Do you not remember Duncan Lawton and his famous bag of spares which were brought out to repair his Remington between stands? Beretta 300 series, miles more reliable.

these auto threads come up a lot..............but the common denominator always seems to be the remington 1100................i have an old a303 from new 26" barrel...it is a bit heavy ...but i have always wondered what a remi 1100 would be like......

Mike - you are correct. I got rid of mine because it would fail to eject one in every hundred. I got to the stage where i was waiting for it to happen. That said, it handled far better than any Beretta or other auto. I have a Beretta Teknys Gold auto - jams far more than any Remington.

Gordon--the last Remmy I bought was an 11-87 Premier, it went through piston rings breaking and links like nothing that I had before, I do agree about the handling though. As a backup gun I have a 20 year old AL 391 Urika in excellent condition which I bought off Bryan for £500, it came in it's original case with all the bits. The only thing I have done to it was to change all the springs.

I would have thought that someone like you with your mechanical background could tune a Teknys 😂

Mike - I am storing the Beretta for a mate - he split from his partner and then a couple of house moves.- it will soon be gone. I have shot it a few times and seen it jam on many occasions. I think he has cured it by fitting an older part - the shell lifter / carrier. The new one was flimsy, but the older was is heavier and not prone to bend out of shape.

100% happy with my 1100, shot several thousand cartridges over the last 2 years or so without a glitch.

I use 2 O rings to cycle 24g and take one off for 28g and heavier.

Give the innards a wipe with an oily rag every 250 ish cartridges and it keeps going.

Impressive work horse.

I have a Benelli Super 90 which I sometimes take for a bit play on the clays. I really like it and am considering having it chopped from 28” to 24”. It’s money I’ll never see back, but I like the idea of a shorter auto after using mates 24” AL391 Light.
Have had no luck sourcing a shorter barrel for the Benelli in the UK.

My RFD has a super90 in which I really like the look and feel of but it's 28". Hes said he can get me an affinity with a 26" barrel in for a tad over £600, owning one, in your opinion is the benelli worth that extra £300?

I traded in a CF rifle and mod’ for a £900 brand new Benelli Super 90, I’m afraid I have no experience of the Affinity. The Super 90 is well worth the money in my opinion.

Thank you 👍 the other option for me is a stoeger peregrine, same inertia system but less than 400 notes, but, no 26" barrel option.

I have had 3 affinities, 1 played up and was returned for a full refund, still have 2. The quality of the manufacturing in direct comparison to my Maxus is astonishing. Don't get me wrong the Maxus is a great gun, functions very well but just feels inferior compared to the affinity. I believe the Affinity is made by Benelli and there are a few youtube comparison vids. When you put the M1/M2 and affinity side by side the differences in quality are small, IMO not worth the extra money. I am not knocking benelli, i firmly believe they are a fantastic product and I am still on the lookout for a Raffaello Supersport/cordoba at the right money, but the 7 year warranty on the affinity swung the deal, for the money i don't feel they can be beat.

Thank you for the detailed response, much appreciated 👍.

I did look at maxus's too a while ago, I quite liked the idea of the fast loading system but I had seen that got some bad reviews.

Did you have to run your affinity's in at all?
