Whst kind of baffles does this moderator have. One machined lump or seperate plates stacked together with spacers?

Looks like separate plates.

We did a test this morning with standard clear pigeon and my mate went 50 yards a 100 and then a bit more. All though it was a big quieter it still gave a fair boom. The difference is distance made little change to the sound
Now the reason I bought it was I picked up a good perm but the best game spot is two fields from the yard. The issue is the guys dog is very gun shy. My mate said as it was this morning it would still be too loud.

Obviously not a fair test as I need to try subsonic so will have to order some from online some where

The biggest difference here is wind direction .

If your mate is down wind it will sound loud .and up wind much quieter .

To illustrate this .in summer my mate was in a hide on one side of the field me on the other prbably about 350 yds apart looking directly at each other ,wind was blowing right from me to him .he way shooting an unmodded ou in 12b .and it sounded like he had his .410 hushpower to me .i did have my .410 hushpower  .and he thought my gun sounded like an ou.

Such is the effectiveness of wind direction .

If you can set up with the wind behind you and shoot away from houses /farm etc you will hardly be heard  .

It fits on an extended choke and really works

hello, i was looking at these, is there a single barrel 12 g that has a screw in choke?   or is there a hushpower that fits on a standard single if you take off the bead ?

I loaded cookies sub loads and normal carts, [S/A =Semi Auto,]  I can check the model but ive had it at least 5yrs. it was new and from the saddlery Kent.  I understand that the firer doesnt notice the noise and you have to be at a distance to notice, It makes the gun un-balanced, I just used it for Rabbits in the dunes, so wasn't fussed, I came to the conclusion a small bore served better

hello, thanks, i do not have a semi auto, i was looking at putting something on a cheap single 12g? like a Baikal, just a thought i have an old BSA single with high rib, would low noise cartridges work, its for a big rookery near some houses

12bore is hard to supress because the mod will always have a big hole through the middle  .20b is a bit better and obviously. 410 is easiest.

Ive just been onto huspower  .

Im gonna have a mod made for my 20b sa. Think im going to go for one about 8 inches long to keep the weight down

Right the single 12g single i put it on. didnt have a rib,  the mod is tightened by a collet so not sure it would work with rib

Meeeeeee.

£160 can on a £10 gun was a no brainer in my opinion.

works exceptionally well with sub carts.

hello, what model Baikal did you put one on ?

i have the bolt on 9" 410 mod and it does a great job ,i've also got the copy york stealth 20gauge hushpower mossberg pump that you can use with plastic wads if you want.

i has the soild screw in drilled baffle lump at the end not the spaced washers which i think are a lot better at bleeding gas and surpressing the noise.

shoots a lot better with the comb riser kit fitted and an aim dot.

i use 28gram homeload subsonics 5 shot running at 1050fps and its pretty quiet gauged on no complaints from a troublesome permission last couple of years.

next reload batch going to go fibre.

was not impressed with the 12gauge reduction in noise on homeload subsonics so went for the 20g.

wish i'd spent the extra and gone OU 20g Hushpower.

like the idea of the screw in mod/choke option got a hatsan 20gauge auto that could be added to the cause ,it cycles the 28gram subsonics no issues,

Couldnt post any pics on pm OPP. Heres one from a post a few years ago. the gun was a £10 spanish model and i cut 50mm off the end. the moderator is tightened by a collet and i dont think it would work on a raised rib. I didnt find it to be of any great practical use TBH and reckon a nice un-moderated small bore is more effective. however i do have a fully moderated 410 and that is quiet. I shot a rat from my back door a few weeks ago [feeding on bird food]  and my missus didn't hear it

hello, thanks for that, i will give it a bit more thought on this, i could cut off the front of rib and 50mm off barrel but not sure what choke would be left, its a 28inch tight full choke, i might look at a short barrel semi auto, have seen a Franchi Prestige 24 inch barrel and changeable choke,  its just looks a  handy  gun to have, a friend is going to let me try his single 12 hushy. cheers

Has any one tried the moderators from hushpower and fitted on an existing gun? I sent them an email and apparently I can fit one on me hatsan semi or me old pump
Still at 180 quid not cheap. The reason I ask is I picked up a new duck perm and noise is an issue. So might sort some thing during the summer

Is it that quiet? I had a 410 on trial from a gun dealer a long time ago now and that had a similar size mod on it which did not make much reduction in noise. If it is that quiet I have a mate on here that will want one on his hatsan

It's difficult to describe on how quiet it is. I shot a pigeon yesterday while the farmer was standing 20yds away and he said that it was fine. Neither of us required hearing protection. It's a combination of the subsonic cartridge and moderator that gives the sound reduction. I think that it's the supersonic crack that travels so this combination eliminates that.

hello, i am still looking into this hush power modding, can you say what model is the Baikal, did you buy already fitted/do yourself, cut/shorten barrel? it looks to have a rib ? what is the choke ?  i have an old BSA single 1980s with a high rib full choke and looking that this maybe suitable, cheers

I tried mine with normal carts and to be honest it wasn't good enough. But not a fair test so I will have to find some subsonics on line and retest

It's a hatsan escort 12 bore with a saddlery and gun room moderator screwed into my choke.

Yes you definitely need subsonic to avoid the supersonic crack.
