It is some years ago - I hope they have improved, because they were crude. I would be looking at used Teague, Browning or other brands. Carlson were cheapish and well made. figgy Posted February 3, 2020 Report Share Posted February 3, 2020 I'd be looking for used Briley or similar. There are lots of makes of chokes. About two years ago a friend had a pair of Mandel in his ata side plate gun they patterned well and looked nice. I wouldn't know how well they were made as they were in the gun. The Mighty Prawn Posted February 4, 2020 Report Share Posted February 4, 2020 I've got Mandel 1/4 and 1/2 in by B525 - I've patterned them and they are about the same as the factory Browning versions - I swapped for extended chokes I feel like the threads clag up a little faster than the Browning but a wire brush when cleaning makes short work of it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or regularly clean the threads and add silicone grease or copper-slip and the "clag" doesn't build up! samboy Posted February 5, 2020 Report Share Posted February 5, 2020 Iv'e used Briley Teague Beretta and Browning chokes and to me they all shoot the same. The only reason i use extended chokes is that they are easier to change and help protect the bluing on the end of the barrels from rubbing off. I think people worry too much about chokes.
