Eh? You’re seriously considering packing in shooting because another shooter doesn’t agree with you?! 😂 First and foremost we’re people, and then shooters; some are gay, some are not, some are racist, some are not, some are homophobic, others aren’t. All we have in common is that we’re human and we’re shooters. 
This is the ‘Off Topic’ section! What on earth does Philip Schofield ‘coming out’ have to do with shooting? 
I too hope this thread isn’t locked, at least not before some get their narrow minds opened up a tad, and their prejudices laid to rest.

it’s not that i want to pack it in i welcome everybody’s view even digs so long as it’s a honest opinion if people have a upset they should post it openly not stab the man watching their back in his every man counts in the current anti situation

hello, i think we all have a view on these posts in Off Topic and we all might not agree on some comments but there is freedom of speech to say what you think of any Topic but not to diss of other PW members, as for Mr Schofield it must be devastating for his wife and children at this moment in time,  its like a divorce without the paper work, these words ( coming out) seems to show there must be many not able to because of different circumstances in their lives, we have a saying,( you never realy know people), it became true in my 50s but thats another story

No you don't; you told me to 'pipe down' in another thread on this very topic. If you feel you've been stabbed in the back I can assure you it wasn't me. I can also assure you that you aren't the only one on this forum who has been let down, deceived, cheated on and generally pooped upon. It's called life; you bounce back, move on and (hopefully ) don't allow it to taint the rest of your life; that way lies unhappiness.

On the last thread I posted “who cares” about “coming out” and that “it was his and his families business/problem“......the poster after me responded claiming it (the previous post, which was mine?) was the worst post he had ever read on PW!.....the thread was then closed down by the moderators!
Still unaware what was wrong with my posting? or why the next poster took it so badly?

But I didn’t take it to heart! Lol!

You missed the post after yours which was removed, very quickly, by the mods. With that one in place the next one about it being the worst one would make sense.

When Scofield made his announcement I did wonder why now? Something must have changed? I did suspect somebody was trying to hold him to ransom but if the lad is 18 its a non story.

Plenty of middle aged men have made fools of themselves in the past with much younger women, this is no different

A very valid point, it’s a total non-story really and he can be whatever he wants. 
 

Unless, Schoffield met the lad before he was 18 and used his influence and position to move him into new roles etc whilst developing a relationship with him, which is what is being speculated by some and is surely worth looking into.

Your right of course, there are currently no allegations that I know of yet, just unfounded rumour, I just feel if this was a guy leaving his family for a young girl, there'd be protests of an older man using his position to take advantage, yet the same crowd are praising him because he's gay.

Put that aside and I think it is brave to come out and something that must take alot of courage, even more so when in a masculine environment, like you already mentioned, Garreth Thomas ect.

Thanks Scully, I was familiar with Gareth Thomas but had never heard of Keegan Hirst so very appreciative that you posted. Really interesting story and, I certainly agree, it was brave of him to come out. Former doorman, builder and an active professional rugby player. Tough environments and crushes any stereotypes about homosexuality. 
 

Anyway, I’m off this now. It feels like this thread has run its course, several views have been aired and I’ve learnt somethings.

It would be a good endorsement of our collective maturity and humanity that this potentially controversial discussion has been allowed to run but crucially isn’t forced to being closed by reckless comments.

The only culprits I see in these matters are the MSM who love to (attempt to) trigger the heterosexuals amongst us, with the constant LBGT tabloid agenda🙄

I met two gay guys and a lesbian in the casino on a recent cruise and they were fantastic company. So much so that we met up each night for a couple of hours and had a great laugh…..

Anyway, is a runner the same thing as a gopher?😜

I don’t have anything against homosexuals, some of the most brilliant, competent and lovely people I know are gay. We have several very very good friends who are gay. 

 

My issue was that if this was a heterosexual man, with rumours of him cheating with his 18 year old female runner, there would be uproar about abuse of position. But because he is gay he is being called a hero. 
 

Do you not see the hypocrisy? 
 

we can’t shout and preach about equality, but then give certain groups special treatment. To me that’s not equal.

However I don’t think people should be praised for “coming out” ... that just enforced the view that it’s some big struggle and it’s wrong or gay people are up against it.

What we should be saying is, so what? If he’s gay that’s fine, good luck to him, I think he’s quite funny on tv. The fact that he is gay makes no difference to me. 
 

What I do think though is that by making a big deal out of it other gay people see it as an obstacle they also have to overcome. 
 

Instead it should just be a matter of fact.

Can someone enlighten me. Schofield has announced he is gay, but the thread title refers to "child groomer".

Is there some proof of this or is someone sticking their neck out with a serious allegation? If they are, they should be praying that Schofield's solicitor never looks in on Pigeonwatch.
