scouser
Friends got themselves in bit of bother money wise, needs 20k , any suggestions ?? (They own their house)
Medic1281
First thing is to address the issue that got them in bother in the first place. No point releasing equity in the house if they are going to lose it all again.

butchdickason
As already said, Do Not Get involved, I did a few years ago and learned the hard way, some 30K lost and they are still in the same situation.

Farmboy91
Never a lender or borrower be. I know it can be hard not to help a friend but it rarely works out well.
spurs 14
Financial advisor / citizens advice , best route to take if they own their own house they are half way there just let them find out best way to proceed , ie if age allows remortgage for £20,000 or equity release , leave it to the experts , as said best not to get involved , hard but don’t go that route
Lloyd90
Best stay out of it, most people will regret getting involved. My sister has helped people out with things when she came into money and she regretted it afterwards. Often there was a reason the people were in the issues in the first place and being bailed out didn’t solve those reasons.
