New to the world of .410

I took my hushpower .410 to my clay ground and using these 14 grm loads smashed loads of clays tricky crossers, going away , teals  high driven birds etc. . Shamed a few people with 28 grm of no 7.5 in a 12b .

If its in range and your on it it will break.  And the satisfaction  of dusting a clay at 15 yds with a small 410 cart as it screems past is brilliant .

By coincidence, I took my .410 (basic AyA boxlock n/e) out recently on a few clays.  Although it 'fits' well, I find it hard work as it is just so much lighter (and I'm used to 6 1/4 to  7lbs 12 bores) it demands a lot of concentration as it needs much less muscle force.  Also in 1/2 and full, it is 'unforgiving' - with the number I 'chipped' rather than 'broke', I'm glad it was on clays not any live quarry.

I'm afraid it just reminded me why it's only occasionally used, and then at close range on squirrels and rats etc, which it does well.  Just doesn't really suit me.

As always for me, getting the leading out has also been much harder and more time consuming than any 12 I have owned.

I will be shooting on Wednesday, pheasants and partridges in the Shropshire hills a couple of miles from the Welsh border. Good birds. Three of that team only ever use .410 guns.
Shot last Saturday in Lincolnshire., different team. Three of us have agreed to take our .410 guns next time there on Dec 9th. I may use the .410 for half a day and a black powder hammer gun for the other half.

@steve_b_wales I had no idea Hatsan did SBS guns. Can't find much about those online.

My mistake, sorry, it's a Yildiz:blush:
