Benthejockey
Looking to buy a chiller after trying to wrestle 6 lambs into our domestic fridges this weekend - thankfully the sheep were in pieces and we've got 3 fridges. Also it will be easier to hang deer in rather than having to quarter them to put them in my death fridge. I've found one on ebay that looks just the job but he's said it may need regassing which I'm taking as it WILL need regassing. How much do we think it'll cost to regas the chiller before I buy a big insulated box!

First I can't answer your question because I don't know ........ but some years ago when I ran a game shoot, we looked into this kind of thing. Two things I would check before taking the plunge. I don't know how 'normal' it is to need re-gassing, but if the gas has gone due to a leak, the question of how much it will cost to fix the leak should also be asked. Old refrigeration units may be hard to get parts like seals and wearing parts. When we looked at this - the daily/weekly running cost (electricity) wasn't cheap. Electricity has gone up a lot since then as well. In addition, some commercial chillers may need 3 phase supply.

Mighty Ruler
I had an ice-cream freezer re-gassed once, he did it pretty cheaply, as I knew him but said if it leaked again to scrap it as wouldn’t be worth fixing. I think it worked for about a week.

Yes I know, unfortunately I had to suck the expensive refill. Like everything else the old type is no longer used in cars produced later
