Hi can any air gun buffs riddle me this, I’m wanting to buy a fac rifle, having had a conversation in the local gun shop about a  BSA r10 se , It was said that the fac version would have increased barrel length than the standard sub 12 ft version. I accepted this not  having great knowledge on the subject. Once I had left I got thinking about all the bull pup models like the fx wild cat etc, so if the increased length was for accuracy how come fx pull it off. Anyhow if any one can explain it that would  clear things up a bit  cheers in advance .

I'm pretty sure the longer barrel gives more time for the air to get the pellet up to speed.

So you can get more power  with a reasonable shot count.

With a short barrel you can still get up to FAC power but it needs more air.

Bsa do 3 barrel lengths in the r10

A 12 inch  (super carbine )

15.5 inch standard uk

18 inch fac or export .

You can fac any of the above (accuracy wont change with length - or shouldnt )

You will get less shots with the shorter barrels or less power as you wish.

The r10 is perfectly capable of 900 fps pellets from the 12 inch barrel in .177 ,  .22 and probably. 25 also

I like the look and convenience or the carbine hides, shooting from vehicles etc . So that’s good to know . Cheers

I have the 15.5” BSA R10 FAC (modded) that was chrono’d by John Bowkett during a service giving 27fpe. I think the 18” barrel version is approximately 32fpe.
