.223 Cleaning

I’ve priced up a 1 piece Dewey rod, jag and brush. Plus a bore guide for my new Tikka. 

Do I need to use square or round patches for Dewey jags? 
 

I’ve also seen people using like a fibre pellet to push up the bore. Are these a useful addition to your cleaning kit? 
 

I’ve been looking at the boretech solvents but a bit lost as to what I need.

people still seem to reference wipe out, any good?

Square 1 1/4 or round are fine. As for copper solvent, its like aftershave, we all have our favourites.

Do a bit of searching on the net, then make your decision.

boretech eliminator is fantastic stuff. loads better than bore foam or kg. dougy have you tried eliminator

No, having barrels that dont pick up copper i just use a couple of patches with some spit on. 

 

 

I use foam, then if required Butchers, then if its still bad Sweets. to be honest the 17 and 2 re-barreled hardly pick up any copper.

my shillen barrel on the .17ah is like that very clean but the enfield and mosin are horrendous.
