Of course we will all have to comply if the UK goes into lockdown but before it does opportunities for sport can be taken.

Already fearing ‘house arrest’ Aga Man was keen to get out so he asked me across the Humber, reasoning that if we avoided all other contact on the way to the field it was unlikely that we would catch anything nasty under a hedge.

It was probably two days too soon to shoot this field of badly sown barley but there may be restrictions in place in the coming days. The likelihood of metal detectorists over the weekend also played a part in the decision making. There was certainly a line to the field but it went all the way across it to a belt of trees rather than funnelling birds onto the field itself. Today would be flight line shooting rather than decoying.

We had a great few hours, neither of us shot particularly well and we ended up with sixteen pigeons and five Carrion crows. We have saved a few song birds this spring with those black marauders in the bag.

Certainly was good to get out and catch some fresh air with a good pal. Shame about the pigeons as We saw quite a few today but couldn't really get them close enough.

I was pleased to get the corvids and also send a few of their pals away with sore backsides!

Thanks for coming over JDog:good:

Good to see you both getting out ,for how much longer in these troubled times we can all but guess .

At least my self isolating is exactly that , I did have company today as my wife came for a ride around the estate near mine , we were out for two hours and apart from a tractor working in the distance we never saw another soul .

Keep the reports coming and hopefully you and your families stay safe .

Well done old boy.

I have  been out twice in the last few days. First time I fired one shot and second didn't discharge my weapon.

I have seen loads of pigeons on drillings but they aren't committed and still in flock mode.

That said, each time, I've hardly seen a soul, and for the record not come into contact with anyone.

I can't see a lockdown in these parts, more likely cities. In any case, the only thing you are likely to come into contact with is fresh air and the odd pigeon.
