A forge question.

A friend of mine is getting into knife making and is after a ready made forge a Devil Forge to be exact, he also want to melt brass, Ally etc for bolsters, finger guards and end caps etc.

He has asked me my opinion and I said make one its a lot more satisfying but he wants to buy one. Can he use the Devil Forge knife makers forge for heat treating and melting? They also make a smelting forge which is a few quid dearer than the knife making forge, I can't see any reason why if the crucible fits inside the knife makers forge he can't just use the one. Does anyone have any experience on this here? Seems stupid to buy two thats why I told him to make one. Mine does both, cost me about 30 quid, its ugly and a constant fight against rust but it does the job.

http://devil-forge.com/   You can see how you could use just the knife makers forge here.
