Old Boggy
I`ve just found this in the shed and cannot for the life of me remember what it`s for. It`s quite a common object which I`m sure that I`ve used many times but my brain cell just will not function. Please don`t say tape measure ! This premature senility is a dreadful thing OB
bottletopbill
Could it be a bike spoke tightener

old'un
I think everyone has a box of bits in their shed that should be labelled “Now, I wonder what that’s off?)

Wb123
Looks like a rather well made spoke adjuster. More likely car or motorcycle than bicycle looking at the size of it.

Townie
Years ago, there was a place nearby that did house clearances. All the good stuff went to auction and they also had a shop that sold to the walk in trade. There was always a couple of crates of bits and pieces no doubt from old chaps’ sheds. I used to get the occasional decent tool, but the bulk of it was strange things with that oily, surface rust feel that had me thinking ‘now what on earth is that?’ Just like the OP’s photo. kernel gadaffi
Aslo can be used to loosen them.
Old Boggy
Yes I think that Bottletopbill ,Tightchoke and Kernel gadaffi are right, it`s the bike spoke tightener (and loosener) thingy. Cannot remember when I last used it, haven`t had a bike for years, but you never know, may come in useful one day . Thanks everyone, OB
old'un
Needs labelling and putting in the “useful box” just encase you find it again in a few years and wonder what its for.

fatchap
I could be wrong but it looks like a Tape measure next to a bit of metal.

Retsdon
You have me curious about this thing myself now. I wish someone would come along and say categorically what it is. I don't really buy the bike spoke thing. Forget the last part. Found it!...a selection of spoke keys.
