Being as I’m bored , I thought I’d show you a defender build I did a few years ago.

will try 1 post per day

started off with a seized 2.5 turbo engined defender with a rotten chassis  bought from Cornwall for less than £700 and transported to Nottingham for £180.

It actually doesn’t look as bad as it was

At one post/picture a day its likely the corona virus outbreak will be over before we see the end results, or I'm dead.

Front axel rebuild, balls showed a little rust but nothing major and not enough to damage seals, disks where in fair condition so reused along with callipers.

while this was happening I was also stripping the donor , and buying parts and panels !  Unfortunately  very little of the donor was of much use

Bought a low mileage 200tdi from a friend of a friend who thought it had a turbo overrun.

But on hearing the story sounded more like a stuck throttle. Stripped it down new head gasket, turbo cartridge and injection pump ( rusted internally due to being stored in damp barn)

hello, it goes to show what the cold and damp can do to vehicles not being used, i am sure lots of PW members like myself are not driving, it pays to start up and leave running a while to get oil around the engine and any damp areas, i might get some petrol instead as tesco is very close

Chassis coated in black wax can’t remember what it’s called will look it up and mention later .

but wanted the car to look like a factory spec car, not showing galvanised chassis .

eagle eyes will spot the rear fuel tank mount

Great pictures and nice work, we to have done quite a few typically 200 tdi conversions Into series stuff. Currently have a 1989 turbo diesel 90. The plan with this one is to put a Merc om606 engine mated to r380 gearbox and td5 axles to up the brakes. Might come sooner than later with this lockdown business.

 Stay safe all.
