Homemade Sweet and Sour Chicken.

With the latest closures of Takeaways just wondering if anyone is interested in a cheap home cooked version of S&S chicken, my Mrs has been cooking this for years and we never pay TA prices anymore. First make your S&S sauce, add 100ml White Wine Vinegar to 100g of Tomato Ketchup and 100g Sugar, 175ml Water, Tablespoon Cornflour into Saucepan , whisk over heat and bring to the boil and keep whisking until liquid looses it's cloudiness - simmer for about 2 minutes then remove from heat till needed. Using frozen battered Chicken pieces/Nuggets and fresh Veg it works out really cheap.Whilst the Chicken is cooking in the oven you need to simply chop into largish pieces 1 large Onion, 1 Red or Yellow Pepper into a Wok with  a tablespoon of Sesame Oil (use Sesame Oil as it fills the kitchen with chinese food smell!) mange tout and a packet of Microwave Rice. 7-8 minutes before the Chicken is ready, cook the Veg on a medium/high heat adding a good splash of Soy Sauce once the Veg starts to sizzle - cook for 4-5 minutes then add Bean Sprouts and cook for a further 2 minutes. Serve up and enjoy.Around a minute before serving you will need to put your sauce back on the heat.Sooooo Easy.

do chicken breast or wings in the oven   when they are 3/4 done add

a mix of

  • chopped tinned pineapple
  • soya sauce
  • worster sauce
  • plum jam
  • tomatoe ketchup
  • chopped spring oinion
  • bit of brown sugar

plenty of plum jam...............this recipe you will have to play with a bit....may sometimes need a bit of vinegar

its more of a sticky sweet and sour sauce ...best with chicken wings or fatty pork bits....

it is truley awesome ...nothing like any sauce you would buy

:good:.......................try it and get back to me

Tried it mostly - added some pineapple ... on the hob atm but it’s very sour 😬
