Lewis Hamilton will be quite upset....he was quite a close friend

RIP ..........

i remember the documentory about the both of them together when lewis was allowed to drive the original silver arrow that moss drove.........lewis was speechless when he brought it back to the pits......

Once saw an old black and white documentary of Stirling in an endurance race,possibly isle of man. He pulled up for a pit stop. A funnel was put into the petrol tank right behind his seat. Petrol was then poured in with Jerry cans. Whilst waiting for the fill up he lit a cig for a quick drag !  How times have changed

No finer driver when the human input required was greater than the technology.

His drive round the Mille Miglia course is still unbeaten. He did that aged 25yrs with Jenks in the passenger seat reading notes from what in all intents and purposes looked like a toilet roll. Incredible drive.

Aside from his obvious driving talent, he was one of the true sportsmen - see below:-
