Airgun scope

Side focus may be a stretch at circa £150, it’s a bit more but this something like this would be optimal:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/7031588336

High mag to give shallow depth of focus which is good for range finding. Side focus. 30mm tube and 50mm objective lens good for low light. Illuminated reticle for lamping.

I would compromise on the side focus to get it into budget.

Would the base of 6 mag be too much for ratting or will it be ok

Probably too high, I wouldn’t bother with side focus at all for ratting etc. Low light makes it hard to do, fast moving targets make it impossible. Know a few markers and fire away. 3-12 x 50 AI AO would suit you better. Make sure the illumination to reticle is adjustable, I generally use on lowest possible.

Others will have more experience than me.

3x is more than enough for ratting especially if your gonna add an nv system to it . Some  people  have a dedicated ratting gun.

Short , light , fast reload ,and quiet  .

Add your chosen  nv to its scope or other  .

I use my brocock  contour s6  With a nite sight  fitted to a 2-7 x 32 ..

Its still short and easy to swing about in dark barns

Im not sure there has ever been a uk airgun more suited to ratting than this  .
